The Louis Henderson Talk opened my eyes to a lot of new theories, I found myself captivated throughout the talk by the fascinations in which Henderson has concerning the world.
Henderson has investigated a lot over the years, finding new ways of communicating with people, addressing situations alike the global condition and how it’s been defined throughout history by racist capitalism, investigating connections with capitalism, technology, history and colonialism.
He explained being a DJ gave him a passion for music, he realised music gives the viewer information on the narrative; the tone, that educes a change within the body of a viewer, additionally he said not to use ‘a glue’ that you just stick over the top of a piece, the music much have resonance.
This led him onto John and Alice Coltrane, after Johns death Alice released a specific version of her husband’s piece, writing in his voice, to bring back his ghost, this is ‘Remixology’ with remixing she is waking the spirits.
Henderson was mesmerised of understanding the voices of the dead existence in our sonic landscape and visual, He grew a fascination of inanimate and dead objects having voices, we had the pleasure of viewing snippets of multiple films, this really helped me with understanding soundscapes and music within the film.
